AI & Automation for IT Teams

Stop watching AI demos. Build the automations an IT team will actually rely on.

Most AI courses stop at clever prompts. This one goes further: you connect a model to real documents, wire it into a workflow, measure whether the output is actually correct, and hand it to someone non-technical. That gap — between a demo and something an IT team can depend on — is where the value is.

Syllabus

7 modules across 8 weeks, at about 5–6 hrs/week.

How language models actually work

Tokens, context windows, temperature and hallucination — enough mental model to debug bad output instead of guessing.

Prompt engineering that survives production

Structured prompts, few-shot examples, output formats, and why a prompt that works once fails on the hundredth run.

Working with your own documents

Chunking, embeddings and retrieval — build an assistant that answers only from your organisation's runbooks and policies.

Automating IT workflows

Ticket triage and summarisation, report generation, and connecting AI to the tools your team already uses.

Evaluating AI output

Build a test set, score responses, and prove the system is right often enough to trust in an operational process.

Cost, privacy and safe deployment

Token economics, what must never be sent to a public model, and how to discuss data handling with a client or security team.

Capstone: ship a working assistant

Deliver an end-to-end assistant for a real IT use case, with documentation and an evaluation report.

What you will be able to do

  • Build a document-grounded assistant from scratch
  • Automate a repetitive IT workflow end to end
  • Measure and defend the accuracy of an AI system
  • Judge what should and should not be sent to an external model
  • Ship a working project with an evaluation report

AI & Automation for IT Teams — questions

Do I need to know coding for this AI course?

No. The first half is entirely no-code using visual automation tools. Light Python appears in the second half and is taught from zero — you will be reading and editing scripts, not writing from a blank file.

Is this useful for someone in IT support or infrastructure?

Particularly so. Ticket triage, summarising incident histories and generating reports are exactly the repetitive tasks worth automating, and you already know which ones hurt most.

Which AI models will I learn?

The course is deliberately model-agnostic. You work hands-on with current commercial models through their APIs and learn the patterns that transfer when models change — which they do, frequently.

Are API costs included?

We provide API credits for the coursework and capstone. If you continue building after the course you will pay your provider directly, and the cost module teaches you how to estimate that properly.
